Fundraising targets for 2019/2020

  • "One iPad for every child" initiative                                                                                                                                                          Our goal this year is to provide an iPad for every single child in the school. A few years ago, new interactive whiteboards were installed in each of our five classrooms. These have proved extremely beneficial in helping our children to achieve their academic goals and develop their speech and language. However, in order to realise the full potential of this technology, the children need to be able to interact individually with the content of the whiteboard during class time. This is only possible if each child in the class has access to their own iPad, which they can then use as a terminal to interact with the whiteboard. Furnishing each child with an iPad will significantly increase participation levels in group learning activities. The school currently has less than 10 iPads for a total of 30 pupils. Our target is therefore to raise enough funds to purchase at least 20 iPads, protective cases and an iPad charging trolley, which enables multiple iPads to be charged and synced safely.
  • Upgrade our sensory room
As educationalists we need to adapt the environment to suit the child and must create an environment that is calming, positive and rich           in learning opportunities.  One of our aims in the past few years has been to install a fully equipped sensory room.
Research shows that sensory rooms are extremely effective in supporting the learning needs of children with autism.  An upgraded                   sensory room would help create a safe space away from over stimulation. Provide opportunities for engaging in a host of therapeutic               exchanges. Promote self-care, self-nurturance, resilience and recovery. These experiences not only alleviates stress but it also prepares           the children to return to the classroom ready to work.
