If you are interested in being a substitute SNA in ABACAS, please forward a copy of your CV and a copy of your statutory declaration to our email address. You will need to apply through the school to be vetted by our Patron, Autism Ireland, before you will be eligible for substitute work as an SNA.

Work Experience/Placements: If you are a transition year student or are currently studying a course that requires a placement in a Special Education setting, please complete the form below and return it to the school. Please note we get a huge number of applications for placements for various different courses and so it is not possible to facilitate every application we receive. We recommend submitting applications before Halloween midterm for the school year that placement is required. Applications for placements (found below) should be submitted in person to the school together with an Autism Ireland application for Garda Vetting (also found below), photo ID and proof of address (utility bill, P60, bank/credit union statement). This can take up to 8 weeks to process so it is important to apply well in advance of your required dates. Placements cannot go ahead without a satisfactory vetting disclosure from the Garda Vetting Bureau.A statutory declaration form must be completed and returned if you are 18+years of age .

*TRANSITION YEAR STUDENTS* Abacas Special School cannot offer placements to any TY student under the age of 16 years. Students, aged 16 or over, should submit an application for garda vetting following the guidelines above in plenty of time before the required placement date. Parents/Guardians of anyone under 18 should also complete a declaration of consent (below) which must accompany the application. Placements cannot go ahead if the Garda Vetting Bureau has not completed the vetting in due time.
